President Ogawa Pays a Courtesy Visit to National Chiayi University (NCYU), Taiwan

On February 6th, 2025, President Hisao Ogawa, President’s Special Assistant Hiroshi Cho and other representatives paid a courtesy visit to National Chiayi University (NCYU) in Chiayi City, Taiwan.
 
President Ogawa, Prof. Cho and the delegation  met with President Lin Hanqian, deans of each collage, member of international affairs and other university representatives. NCYU is a national university with 7 collages located in the center of Chiayi and is one of the oldest and largest universities in the southern part of Taiwan. This was the first visit since NCYU and Kumamoto University (KU) signed an inter-university academic exchange agreement in 2024.
 
The meeting started with opening greeting and introduction of both universities. In his address, President Ogawa expressed his gratitude for accepting the visit, referred to common things between two universities such as declining populations and transformations in industrial and higher education, and conveyed his hope for a strong partnership in various areas, such as research projects, forum cooperation, student internships and exchange programs.

President Lin Hanqian and NCYU deans mentioned about the potential expansion of partnership, especially in student exchange and research collaboration across different collages. Representative of both universities discussed positively about future academic and educational exchanges.

After the meeting, the KU delegation visited the university library and the KANO Baseball Exhibition with interesting guidance by NCYU attendees.
 
It is hoped that this visit will further deepen the collaboration between two universities.
