Vice President Kishida’s Courtesy Visit to Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia

On September 18, 2024, Vice President Mitsuyo Kishida of Kumamoto University (KU) paid a courtesy visit to Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Indonesia.

During the visit, Vice President Kishida met with the Head of AGE, Dina Septiani, and the Head of the Partnership Division, Aprilia Putri, accompanied by staff from the International Program Development, Student Outbound Mobility, and Partnership Divisions. The discussions focused on strengthening student mobility, fostering collaborative education, and promoting research exchange between KU and UNAIR.

Particularly in the area of student mobility, there was a strong interest in the MEXT Scholarship opportunities at KU, specifically in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Nano Science, and Applied Chemistry, which are likely to attract graduates from UNAIR’s Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM). An information session targeting FTMM students is currently under consideration. Additionally, the possibility of organizing a "Study in Japan" event in collaboration with AGE's Bootcamp program, which introduces UNAIR students to global study opportunities, was also discussed.

KU has maintained a strong partnership with UNAIR since signing an inter-university agreement in 2013, and the establishment of the Study in Japan Office at the KU Liaison Office in ITS, Indonesia, is expected to facilitate even closer cooperation. This visit further strengthened the relationship between the two universities, promoted ongoing collaborative initiatives, and opened doors for future collaborations.
