Guideline for Use of Social Media

This Social Media Guideline, stipulates principles students, faculty and staff of the Kumamoto University (KU) should follow when posting information on the social media sites.

1.Compliance with laws and regulations
When posting messages on social media, you should comply with Japanese laws and regulations. In particular, please be aware that fair handling of copyrights is a particularly heavy responsibility as an educational and research institution.

2.Compliance with foreign laws and international laws
When traveling abroad, please comply with the laws and regulations of other countries and international laws according to your own situation.

3.Respect for human rights
Respect the individuality and diversity of each individual and accept different opinions, ways of thinking and ways of life as the starting point of all communication activities.
You must not share information containing discriminatory content regarding race, creed, gender, social status, etc., or information containing slanderous or inappropriate content against others.

4.Confidentiality
Do not post confidential information that you acquire in classes, experiments, laboratories or in the course of your duties.

5.Post correct information
Please post accurate information based on your position as a member of KU. Dissemination of unreliable or false information will damage the honor and credibility of yourself and the university.

6.Disclaimer
When using social media by clearly indicating that you are a member of KU, please state that the content of the message is your personal opinion and does not represent the position or opinion of KU. However, please be aware that even if such a statement is made, it may be perceived by others as if it represents the university.

7.Privacy protection
Social media is a space where so many people share information. Information regarding the privacy of oneself or others, including photos, etc., once posted on the network, can be accessed by an unspecified number of people, and as a result, there is a possibility that it may spread all over the world in an unexpected manner. Please be aware that if this happens, it will be difficult to completely remove it from the network.

8.Investigation
If the use of social media results in a violation of university regulations or a legal dispute, KU may investigate the history of the person in question after consulting and coordinating with relevant organizations.
