President Chayaporn Wattanasiri of Mae Fah Luang University (Thailand) pays a Courtesy Call to President Ogawa
On April 10th 2023, Dr. Chayaporn Wattanasiri, president of Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) and other executive staff, paid a courtesy call to President Ogawa. MFU is a public university established in 1998 in Thailand’s Chiang Rai Province, and is a highly international university attracting many international students from all over Asia. KU and MFU signed a university-level exchange agreement in 2020 and have been conducting student/research exchanges mainly in the field of medicine since then. This meeting was to support the continuing friendship between the two universities. Also present were Dr. Jun Otani, Trustee and Vice President for Research and Global Strategy; Dr. Seiji Okada, professor at the Joint Research Center for Human Retrovirus Infection; and Mr. Kenji Kakuta, General Manager at the International Affairs Department.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the exchange achievements and talked about future exchange agreement plans. They also discussed the possibility of developing a double degree program in the field of medicine, as well as initiatives to promote student/research exchanges in a wider range of fields. That same day, the group toured Kurokami Campus, which provided an opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of KU by visiting historical buildings, including the Fifth High School Memorial Museum.
We hope that this courtesy call will encourage further exchange between KU and MFU.
