“Study in Japan Online Academic Seminar on the Natural Sciences for Indonesia”
On January 13, 2022, Kumamoto University co-hosted the “Study in Japan Online Academic Seminar on the Natural Sciences for Indonesia” with Six National Universities Network (SUN) Surabaya Office of SixERS.As Kumamoto University’s Liaison Office at ITS, this office has promoted student and academic exchanges and international collaboration between Kumamoto University and local partners in Indonesia since April 1, 2010.
The Kumamoto University Liaison Office at ITS has been used jointly as the National Universities Network (SUN) Surabaya Office of SixERS. The opening ceremony for the joint office and Study-Abroad Fair took place on December 1, 2020.
At the opening session, Deputy Vice-President for International Affairs of Kumamoto University KISHIDA Mitsuyo, delivered a congratulatory address, followed by that of Dr. Astria Nur Irfansyah, the Senior Manager for International Partnership of ITS.
After the opening delivery, Ms. Mia Hernawati, from Kumamoto University’s Liaison Office at ITS, who was a facilitator for this seminar, introduced SixERS by describing past exchanges between Indonesia and Japan.
In addition, two researchers from Kumamoto University and Nagasaki University offered lectures so that Indonesian students could have the experience of attending Japanese university lectures.
Prof. KISHIDA Mitsuyo, from Kumamoto University’s Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, delivered a lecture titled “Testing endocrine-disrupting chemicals in fish.”
Also, all of the international students from Chiba, Kanazawa and Niigata Universities talked about their experiences in Japan live or by material, then Okayama University introduced the “Study in Japan Global Network Project (ASEAN).”
It is hoped that further exchanges between Indonesian universities and SixERS partner universities will result from this event.
