Participating in the 120th Anniversary Celebrations of Shandong University, China

President OGAWA Hisao gave a congratulatory address to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Shandong University, China, our partner university. Our faculty also participated in some online events hosted by Shandong University to commemorate the occasion.

Shandong University is one of the national priority universities designated under the "211 Project" and "985 Project" by China’s Ministry of Education. Since we signed an exchange agreement with Shandong University of Technology, the predecessor of Shandong University, in 1997, both universities have continued to conduct active exchanges, including accepting international students and researchers, and holding workshops.

As the celebration was held online due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, the participants made their congratulatory speeches via video.
In addition, to commemorate Shandong University's 120th anniversary, various online events took place. In the study-abroad fair titled “Global Partners Week” held on October 13, Prof. KISHIDA Mitsuyo, Deputy Vice-President for International Affairs and Prof. KITA Naoyasu of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Technology, introduced Kumamoto University to Shandong University students. In addition, Prof. YAMAGATA Kazuya, the Dean of the School of Medicine and Graduate School of Medicine, participated in the online forum "World University Presidents’ Forum on Medical Sciences" held on the same day.

We hope that this opportunity will stimulate further exchanges between our two universities.
