Overview

Objectives and Philosophy

We educate students to become legal professionals who can respond to various legal needs and resolve legal issues faced by Japanese society.

1. Educational Objectives and Philosophy

To rise to the demands of our times, the Kumamoto University School of Law offers not only quality courses in legal theory but also legal training as a process that focuses strongly on linking legal theory and practice. The guiding philosophy and overall objective of this development comprise rearing of high-caliber legal professionals having well-rounded education, specialist qualifications and abilities, and a strong sense of ethics.

2. Our Ideal Legal Professionals

Legal professionals educated at the Kumamoto University School of Law will invariably be endowed with the following two abilities. The first is that of a "social life doctor for people," in other words, the ability to provide legal services in line with the basic universal needs of public life as a household physician does for the community. The second is that of a "medical specialist" capable of meeting the newly emerging legal needs currently faced by our society, such as legal work related to public policy, care for the elderly and administration of property, business compliance, and corporate revival. We produce legal professionals equipped with these two capabilities and provide high-quality legal services to the local community.
