General Information

Overview

Kumamoto University International House Residence A (55 rooms) was constructed in 1985 to house international students and foreign researchers, and to encourage educational and research exchanges. Later, in response to the increasing numbers of international students and foreign researchers, Residence B (57 rooms) was built in 1995, followed by Residence C (36 rooms), D (36 rooms) and E (48 rooms) in November 2009.

Qualifications for the Residence

  • International students who are enrolled in Kumamoto University, and their families (spouse and children)
  • Foreign researchers who provide education and perform research at Kumamoto University, and their families (spouse and children)
  • Others who have received the permission from the Director of the Center for Globarization

(1) Rooms for singles in Building A and B

Facilities: kitchen, shower and toilet (or bathtub and toilet), air conditioner
Furnishings: Single bed, wardrobe, refrigerator, electric IH cooker, desk, chair, shoe shelf, and telephone (incoming calls only)
 

(2) Rooms for couples in Building A and B

Facilities: kitchen, bathtub and toilet, and air conditioner
Furnishings: double bed, wardrobe, cupboard, refrigerator, gas range, desk, chair, table, shoe shelf, and telephone (incoming calls only)
 

(3) Rooms for families in Building A and B

Facilities: kitchen, bathtub and toilet, and air conditioner
Furnishings: double bed, bunk beds, wardrobe, cupboard, refrigerator, washing machine, gas range, desk, chair, dining table, shoe shelf, and telephone (incoming calls only)
 

(4) Shared rooms in Building C and D

Facilities: <Shared> kitchen, shower and toilet, and air conditioner
<Private> air conditioner and closet
Furnishings: <Shared> cupboard, refrigerator, washing machine, microwave oven, electric IH cooker, dining table, chair, and shoe shelf

(5) Rooms for singles in Building E

Non-smoking in University Campuses

From July 1, 2019, Kumamoto University is 100% smoke-free campus. This includes International House (inside and outside of the buildings). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation to prevent exposure to secondhand smoke.
