Rental Fees and Charges

1. Payment of rent, property usage charges, electricity and water expenses

(1) Residents of Building A and B

International Students

The invoices for rent, expenses for common service, electricity and water charges are put into each mailbox around the 15th of every month. Residents must pay these charges at the Kokaibashi Branch of Higo Bank by the end of the month. Couple and family rooms are equipped with a gas range. Residents need to initiate a contract. For details on how to apply, use and pay for gas, follow the instructions provided by the gas company and the International House office.

 
Researchers

The invoices for property usage charges, expenses for common service, electricity and water charges are put into each mailbox around the 15th of every month. Residents must pay these charges at the Kokaibashi Branch of Higo Bank by the end of the month. Since the rooms for researchers are equipped with a gas range, residents need to initiate a contract. For details on how to apply for, use and pay for gas, follow the instructions provided by the gas company and the International House office.

 

(2) Residents of Building C and D

International Students

The invoices for rent, expenses for common service, electricity and water charges are put into each mailbox around the 15th of every month. Residents must pay these charges at the Kokaibashi Branch of Higo Bank by the end of the month.

 

(3) Residents of Building E

International Students, Researchers

The invoices for rent and expenses for common service are put into each mailbox around the 15th of every month. Residents must pay these charges at the Kokaibashi Branch of Higo Bank by the end of the month. Since electricity and water must be contracted by the residents directly with the utility companies, follow the instructions of the International Student Office and the International House office for these.
 

Non-smoking in University Campuses

From July 1, 2019, Kumamoto University is 100% smoke-free campus. This includes International House (inside and outside of the buildings). Thank you for your understanding and cooperation to prevent exposure to secondhand smoke.

Remarks:
- Residents must pay a deposit when moving in.
- The rent for the months the resident moves in and out and utilities (Residence C, D) are pro-rated on a daily basis.
- Residents must pay common service charge every month including the months they move in and out.
- When a resident changes rooms in the middle of a month, the rent for each room before and after the change is pro-rated on a daily basis, with the date of change as the reference date.
- When a resident changes rooms in the middle of a month, the resident must pay the monthly common service charge for the former room.
- Residents must pay the actual cost of room cleaning and key exchange when moving out.
- The fees are subject to change.

2. Bedding

Residents are required to rent bedding sets or futons at least of the first month. The rental fee for the futon shall be paid within a week after receipt of the futon.
