Travel alert for South Korea and China as MERS Spreads in those countries

To all students and employees,

In light of the recent events on the global stage, in particular pertaining to the spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus in South Korea and China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) updated its "Travel Information (Region-wide information)", urging travelers to consider their safety when going to those countries.

Recently, Kumamoto University also received a request from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to advise its students as well as employees to pay utmost heed to their safety when traveling to those countries.

Therefore, we urge you to pay close attention to ensure your safety when traveling to the countries, obtain the latest information from the press and the nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate General in the region.

Also, please make certain that you take the appropriate procedures for travel request/travel abroad notice to the office of each department/school beforehand, as well as notify them of your contact information during travel.
